When you are logged in as a project administrator, you will see the link "Configure Project Site" on each page. Click it to have access to these options:
- Project Name: Enter the name as you want it to appear on the project website.
- Project Discription: A short statement or "tagline" of the objectives of the project and who is included. This description will appear in smaller letters under the Project Name in the banner heading of each page of your project's website. (You may choose to use the description already there; if so, do nothing)
- Primary Administrator: prefilled out with the SMF Username. This is where you put your own name and email address.
- Additional Admin 1: Two options for this box:
- You can use this box for your co-administrator's name and email address. Either list his private "SMF" (WFNForum) username or use the same "projectadmin" name in the Primary Administrator box
- if you administer multiple projects, you can use this box to provide you with a single signin to edit all of your projects. Pick one of your admin user names (Terry's would be "bartonadmin") and put it in the "Additional Admin 1" SMF Username for every one of your projects. Put your own name and email address in the two relevant fields in "Additional Admin 1" and remove your name from the "Primnary Administrator" box. Two names will appear on the bottom of the page. One will be "_____admin" and the other will be your name. Both will have your email address.
- Additional Admin 2: (Optional) Name and email address for co-administrators as they will appear on your project's web pages.
- Display Terry as Admin: Click on box to uncheck box if you do not want Terry's name and email address to appear on your project's web pages
- Toggle Page Visibility:
- You have a 10-page website available to you. (Links are to examples from the Bentley Project.)
- Home: the landing page from FTDNA; can be customized with links and general project information, or you use our Default Text
- Patriarchs: admin posts the pedigrees from the forum here, contact info, representative's code number (and eventually lineages)
- y-Results: marker results, grouped by "Lineage" or "Haplotype", posted with earliest known ancestor, color-coded to show matches and mutations
- Order Test-- general info about ordering and a link to project's FTDNA order page. (Ordering here will automatically place the participant in your project.)
- mtDNA-- for posting mtDNA results and related discussion
- Discussion-- for the Administrator's Analysis or other thoughts, explanation of sponsorship program, etc., or you can use our Default Text
- Help-- Links to pages on our website if you can't figure out what to do next
- Join Project--Takes you to FTDNA to order test to automatically become project member
- Forum-- for interactive discussion, Topic Threads and Blogging
- Pedigrees-- place to post pedigrees (Project Administrator will post pedigrees to the Patriarch page from this page.)
Click to uncheck the box beside any page that you do not want to appear on your project's website. - All pages with a check beside them will appear on your project's website.
- You must display the Home, Order Test, FTDNA Site, and Forum pages.
- These pages are optional: Patriarch, y-Results, mtDNA, Discussion, Help, and Post Pedigree.
- Most Project Administrators will use all the pages, but we know that a few administrators display this information on a website elsewhere, so we are giving you the option to avoid redundancy.
When you are satisfied with the settings, click on the gray Save and Publish button near the bottom of the page.
