Join your ancestral Surname Projects & post your pedigree. (Ordering through a project saves you money!)
Didn't find your surname in the list? - use "Search for a Project" - it might be included in another project
To Request a Project, click here, telling us the surname, how you would like to be involved, and the name and email address you wish to use. We'll also want to know the spelling variations you wish to include in the project.
We believe that it is usually best to have a single surname project serving a logical grouping of surname spellings. (In unusual cases, we can assist in resolving difficulties or arranging another project)
When you Request a Surname Project through WorldFamilies.net, here is what happens:
- We first check to see if your name (or its "sounds like" variations) is served by a surname project at FTDNAi
- If a surname project exists, we'll encourage you to utilize it
- If no project exists, we'll ask if you want to to be involved in the administration of a new project
- If yes - we then ask you if you wish for us to provide you with
- our sites - with no support (you are on your own)
- our sites - with our support (we'll help you get going and be available to support you)
- If no - we'll manage the project while you use it for your research purposes
- If yes - we then ask you if you wish for us to provide you with
- We'll then arrange an interlocking set of project sites:
- A project site at FTDNA, where participants can order tests at the group rate. (FTDNA provides a wonderful array of services to project participants and project administrators. They are the industry leader)
- A project site at WorldFamilies.net, where project information is collected and presented to project members and to the public. Often, the Results and Patriarch pages are the most visited.
- A Family Board and a Pedigree Forum for the project at WFNForum.net, where project members - and the public can discuss the project and other issues relating to the surname
3. If you are involved in the administration, we'll provide you with the codes to access and edit the sites
